What's up: We were looking for a place that had plenty of room since we were celebrating a coworker's baby shower. This place was suggested and it definitely was spacious! I only know this place from the Boat up front lol.
Parking: There's plenty of parking available in the back lot. It's shared with the North Woods Inn and the Floor & Decor.
Environment: Order at the front counter. Restrooms are on the left as soon as you enter from the rear parking lot. And...they have a full bar (which we unfortunately did not get to try out). They also have all day Monday and Tuesday through Friday from 3 pm to 6 pm. There are menus available on the wall holder as well as displayed overhead. Place your order, grab a number, and find a table. Lots of TVs overhead and perfect for sports viewing. Staff members will deliver food to the table when ready and collect used dishes. Fountain drinks are self serve at the refreshment station located to the right of the order counter. They also have arcade games at one of the corners.
What was ordered:
- Hamburger with Chili (not very flavorful)
- Loaded Fries (this was pretty good)
Yay/Nay/Meh: Meh. Food was ok. It seems the appetizers were more delicious than the main course. If you need a large location, this place has the space. Food may be hit or miss. Credit cards and Apple Pay accepted.Helpful 15Thanks 5Love this 13Oh no 0 - Alejandra L.Monrovia, CA01Mar 30, 2024
My family and I have been coming to this place for YEARS. Food has always been good, but the service tonight definitely left a long term impression and at the end of the day that is important.
I would say the cashier girls were rude, but honestly it's not their fault. They are getting orders from other "leaders."
Experience: We arrived at 9:40 and were told by the cashier that the kitchen was closed. Some guy (I'd like to assume he was the manager but a manager does not treat customers this way) was nodding his head "no" and hand movements directing that he was no longer going to take orders. The cashier told us she couldn't take our order because the kitchen closed at 9:40, all while the cooks were still finishing orders up in the kitchen.
I understand it's annoying and inconvenient for people to arrive late to a restaurant, but we still had 20 minutes till closing.
I honestly would have understood and left peacefully if the manager or whoever was in charge would have walked to us and directly apologized for the timing. Super unprofessional and very disappointing....Helpful 0Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0 - 813221552Feb 17, 2024Updated review
Food was as expected, friendly service.
$50.59 for 2 cheeseburgers w/ chili
2 sodas, onion rings and fried pickles.
As anyone from SGV knows, this used to be called the Boat.
All the current sports events are running and they have a full bar.Helpful 4Thanks 0Love this 1Oh no 1Apr 2, 2019Previous reviewHow can you not live this iconic establishment? Great place to grab a beer or cocktail while watching a sports game and noshing on good grub.

It's been years since I've been back to "The Boat" a nice remodel. It's especially clean and with lots of available tables. We came out for dinner after a day of being stuck in doors during a southern California storm, and just wanted to have something to have that was satisfying.
I ordered the chili plate with salad and bread, which was very tasty. The chili with the patty was average, but somehow with the salad and bread it just made it taste better. My ultimate favorite chili size is from Bob's big boy by the way. A friend ordered the fried chicken that came with fries and a salad. She said it was OK, but probably not something she would order again just based on flavor and coating.
Staff was helpful and nice. This place would definitely be great to watch the Super Bowl or any game happening on any given night.Helpful 2Thanks 0Love this 1Oh no 0May 29, 2022Previous reviewIt's been a few years, since we've been here. We moved out of the area some years ago. Never forgot about this place, we're just not in this area often.
Met with a friend and we thought to come and revisit which we've always referred to as "The Boat." I think the old school hook here is the cheese bread. The cheese bread did not disappoint. I ordered the chili size that came with 2 cheese breads - that's a fave. The chili itself reminded somewhat of Tommy's chili. I think the best chili size plate anywhere has been at the original Bob's Big Boy in Burbank - hands down!
We also had the fried chicken with waffle fries. The chicken look burnt, but didn't taste burnt, a little dry - it was ok, but the waffle fries delivered :) I think I'd stick to the burgers for now. I remember the good food memories of the boat with burgers fries and a soda.
Great place to watch a game and hangout for some beers with friends.Jan 3, 2010Previous reviewI thought I would miss the old boat, but I do like the bigger and better boat. What is with the cheese bread - I'm afraid to ask how many sticks of butter is on a slice - way too good to be a teaspoon. I do like the half and half salad which is half iceberg lettuce with blue cheese dressing and half red cabbage salad and a slice or two of the cheese bread. I've had the steak fries - their ok. I'm not a fan of the chili burger especially after I told the guy that I ordered a chili burger and he said the chili was in there...really? where? it was like spread in there like mayo - which is almost nada. With that said I prefer the burgers at Tops. I didn't get a chance to try the desserts, since I filled up on the bread and fries. Next time.
The addition of the large bar area and wide plasmas are a plus if you're a sports fan. - Al L.Altadena, CA14722Apr 19, 2024
Always a great place to get something tasty and enjoy watching your favorite sports team. I believe there are something like 12-14 tvs. Anyway grabbing a beer and fish and cabbage salad. Yea I know it's not the norm , but their cabbage salad is good. The fish comes with fries , I simply asked for the cabbage salad.
This is a great place to hang out with family and or friends. I've been coming here for over 30 plus years. The waitresses are friendly, the bartenders are great with suggestions and there are plenty of beers on tap. It's like being at a sports book lounge in Vegas only without the long drive. Oh lots of parking in back.Helpful 1Thanks 1Love this 0Oh no 0 - Nancy T.San Fernando Valley, CA2944551171Mar 13, 2024

Hubs has been wanting to go here for ages now and we finally got the chance to stop by after the lunar festival at Santa Anita race track.
It was very difficult finding out to get to the parking lot and also very difficult finding the entrance to the place (because we couldn't find the parking lot). I ended up parking across the street and walking over and entering from their back patio! Luckily the exit doors were open.
Our serve dawn was amazing and so patient as we had three kiddos with us running around. We opted for outdoor seating bc of the kiddos and it was just nice to be outside too. The fountain drinks are refillable which is a plus for hubs. They have tons of tv all around and the food menu was awesome!
1. Beef dip sandwich- I got this one! It was a little lacking in flavor but overall a good sandwich.
2. Fish and chips- my toddler loved this one! Super juicy fish and French fries were also nice and crispy.
3. Clam chowder in sourdough bread- I was super excited about this one but was super let down. It tasted the same as a can of clam chowder and the bread was all soft and soggy off the bat. .
4. Hot wings & double cheeseburger - hubs loved both of these!
Overall lovely little place. Great ambiance and family friendly which is always a plus. Many tables outside and inside. Service was a little slow and food took a while to get out but I guess they expect you to sit and chill before eating. Nonetheless, we had a great time! Thanks for the hospitality!Helpful 2Thanks 0Love this 4Oh no 0 - 99180193Apr 4, 2024
The best place for all of your sports viewing enjoyment! That line sounds so professional, LOL. When you first walk in, you'll order your food and nonalcoholic beverage take a number find a seat. Then the action begins against the back wall is a bar the length of the place where you can order your alcoholic beverage and they make them just right. They even make my espresso martinis yes! The food is really good especially the half-and-half salad which is a Clearman's must have. Service is pretty good. You could always find somebody to take care of you and the vibe is exactly the way you want it when you're watching sports full of energy and LOUD.

You go up to the register to order your food and grab your number and go sit at your table much like a diner café, same with the drinks you go up to the bar or do your drink and bring it back to your table. It's an interesting concept, but it works with this restaurant. Much like the Northwoods inn the cabbage salad and the cheese bread are definitely the best. The rest of the food is like your typical bar food. The buffalo wings could've been much crunchier they were definitely soggy The burger was pretty good. The onion rings are good to. It's definitely a fun place to watch sports.
