Can i bring my dog to attend a burial ceremony?
A:
There is no one checking. My sister brought her dog to our father's burial ceremony but kept her on a lease, mostly on the road (not the grass/burial sight). I guess it depends on your dog. If it is a lap dog or one that behaves very well, I… more

Our first experience with Rose Hills was in 1977. My parents had just moved to California less than a year before my father suffered a fatal heart attack. Rose Hills was professional then, and my Mother bought a gravesite for herself as well as for my Dad. It was then that we decided that we, too, should plan ahead -- so purchased gravesites for our immediate family, as well.
My Mother subsequently passed away in 1998, while living in Ohio. The coordination between the local mortuary and Rose Hills was seamless, and we were once again impressed with the services of Rose Hills.
I experienced the ultimate heartbreak of a lifetime when my spouse passed away in December 2023. Though we lived in Hawaii at the time, our daughter convinced us to spend his last two months at her family home in Idaho, under the care of the local Hospice.
We were fortunate to have been assigned Nicole Garcia as our Counselor. She is a professional who worked with us with the utmost caring and compassion. There were so many details to finalize, and she made sure to stay in communication with the local Boise mortuary as well as with us, while arranging for his transport to Rose Hills.
The Friday before the funeral service, she met with our family to go over all the details and make sure everything was covered -- and that we had no questions or concerns. It became clear to us she was not a "nine-to-fiver" --as during our entire relationship with her, she was responsive to any emails or texts into the evening hours.
I can't say enough about the dedication and sincerity of this lady.
Last week I received a notification from Rose Hills's marker department, advising that my husband's marker had been installed. I immediately contacted Nicole and asked if it'd be possible to send me a picture of what the marker looked like, and it was in my in-box within an hour!! She has no hesitation about going above and beyond what is expected of her, and it gave me great comfort to be able to see my husband's grave marker -- as I don't know when the next time will be I will be in California.
God Bless You if you find yourself in need of Rose Hills' services, but if at all possible, I would suggest you request Ms. Garcia as your Counselor. She is truly a comfort and a professional during your darkest days.Helpful 0Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0Business owner information

My father and sister are buried there. It seems the markers are not maintained on a regular basis, and only if one complains. I do not recommend holding the reception there because they have strict rules that include minor things like decor. And it's a very cold reception room. When my father passed, you were not allowed to bring in food. Only they could provide the food. Not even dessert could be brought in.
My mother recently passed. The rules have changed. They no longer provide food. You are responsible for food, plates, and all else. Adds a lot more stress while one is grieving. My parents purchased upfront their plans so we had no choice but to have it there. I do love the Rainbow Chapel. It's quaint and Spanish in style. That said, I will be buried there because my family is there. However, my reception will not be held there.
Seems death is a big business. I think in some cases it's a "racket", as my father would say.Helpful 2Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0Business owner information

Rose Hills is the final resting place of most of my elders. This is the result of them deciding during the '70's to purchase plots next to each other, excluding their children.
It's a beautiful cemetery. Well manicured lawn. Be aware that they remove flowers every week, on Fridays. I think I've seen them just be run over.
Luckily, I'm writing this review post Covid. During Covid, I had to wait a month to even speak to someone about arrangements. It was an extremely traumatic experience. I would not have wished it on my worst enemy.
Death is a business like everything else. Rose Hills makes most of their bread and butter on people purchasing their $10k+ packages that include the coffin, service, casket arrangement, etc. I don't see much value in spending that much when you're not alive to enjoy it.Helpful 5Thanks 1Love this 5Oh no 0Business owner information

Rose hills is disrespectful to the families and the deceased! Unkept grounds, damaged markers from maintenance works, Rose Hills will not live up to their perpetual responsibility!!!
Helpful 0Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0May 11, 2024Previous reviewThis place has gone down under! Parent's marker is scratched, cracked, chipping, peeling, and Rose Hills says BUY A NEW ONE IT's WEAR & TEAR, although purchased through then. Grave sires are a horrid mess, over grown grass, weeds, dirt mounting on top of sunken markers for months, some marker are completely covered with dirt and you'll never see the marker! The worst kept memorial park EVER AND THEY DON'T CARE! Godparents homes and gopher piling everywhere! They only maintain the entrance. Take a look, families of deceased bring their working tools, buckets, clippers, and we've seen some bring their lawn mowers! ROSE HILLS SIMPLY DOESN'T CARE and it's getting worse. I am filing a public complaint and getting our attorney involved for them to replace my mom & dad's marker! This is NOT a place to remember, it's a place to forget!!! Sorry that my family is there!!!

This is sick Yelp asking me if I recommend rose hills Memorial Park. Are you kidding me? I come back from a funeral to this? It's sick.

Gina,
I sent you my email and am waiting to hear from you. Thanks

My parents visited my grandparents graves again today and once again found the grave site's overgrown with grass, headstones not visible and unkept. My aunt and uncles grave sites are next to my grandparents and covered completely over with dirt and we are unable to see them. I contacted Rose Hill via email but never received an email back. It is expected that when you purchase a grave site that the cemetery will provide perpetual care of the grave. This is very distressing to my mother since it is her family. My father's family are buried in another cemetery and they are kept up and manicured. Rose Hills has always been a beautiful place but I do not recommend the service to anyone.Helpful 0Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0Business owner information

Jan 25, 2023Previous reviewMy grandparents are buried at Rose Hills, along with many other family members. My elderly parents and I drove to the cemetery to visit the grave sites and were unable to locate the graves. After calling the information phone, we were taken to the spot where the graves were located, but found that the headstones had not been tended to, and were completely grown over with grass invisible to anyone who was looking. We had to dig out the gravestones ourselves in order to lay flowers on the graves. I was under the impression when you bought a gravesite that it meant you were buying care to be provided for that gravesite, including edging around the headstones. I am very disappointed at such a large cemetery, which at one point of time was very highly thought of I wish I could take my grandparents up and move them to another location. The one saving grace, I have to agree with is that they did have a person available on site to help us locate the graves for this I give the place a chew.

Do not bury your loved ones here. This place is horrible. They basically just put your loved ones in the ground and leave the place completely unattended and have total disregard for a kept and well maintained environment. My mother in law is buried here and each time we come, the grass is not mowed, the flower pot/container is buried deeply in the weeds and it always seems like the grave marker has sunk lower. All they want is your money. They don't care about what happens after you pay.

my brother has been buried at Rose Hills since 1979. every time I go to his grave site there is a big hole from the tractor tires over his grave site . I'm afraid one day of falling into the hole and breaking my leg. I have brought my concerns to the irrigation department and visitor services about it but nothing gets done .
and on top of that I have to do my own maintenance around his headstone
very disappointing.
They do not deserve any stars.Helpful 0Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0 - 130741359Mar 28, 20241 check-in
this review is solely from the ceremony we had during the burial and not the service before this point. I felt that the staff here were very patient and understanding while we took our time saying our goodbyes as well as walking us through each step from lowering the casket, etc. The groundskeepers here during the ceremony stood by making sure all the floral arrangements were placed around the plot as well as with the casket. I think overall the grounds are beautiful and the staff are kind.

My parents , grandma and brother were buried here. It such a beautiful place overlooking Los Angeles in a clear and sunny day.
The cost for memorial is very expensive if you haven't prepared a plan.
Both my parents bought plots since 1990. The cost for a plot is about $7-10k as of now. Memorial service is not included .
I am grateful we bought plots last 1995.
The service rendered was very good. The staff very accommodating from memorial preparation to funeral itself.
The only thing restricting is food for guest. Very limited space.
But they built more chapel outside the main chapel.
Loved the greenery, trees views. Flowers are being taken once a week based on their schedule.
Open sunrise to sundown.Helpful 0Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0Business owner information
